Consultants
Associate - Robin Coates
Robin's first career was as a Chartered Civil Engineer where he project-managed large construction and design schemes. He was then managing director of a process engineering company for 5 years. During this period his interest in culture change and individual and team development was stimulated. He decided to follow this new career, initially as an internal consultant with Shell UK and then as an independent associated with other individuals and consulting organisations.
He delights in assisting with, and creating, situations where task effectiveness and development of individuals, teams and organisations are inextricably linked. He is interested in the individual in their system context, in how meaning is created and sustained or transformed. He pays particular attention to working with his clients to find minor shifts that make a major difference usually by attending to what is already present - but has not previously been noticed or utilised.
His private sector assignments have been mainly with industrial, financial and service industry clients with some retail and publishing, ranging in scale from small businesses to multinationals. His public sector work has included government departments, local government, health service, education and transitions from public to private sector. His charitable sector work has been with major charities such as the Kings Fund, and with local community-based organisations.
Robin is a father of three wonderful grown-ups and continues to enjoy a lively and stimulating relationship with them and his wife. He lives on the side of the Malvern Hills in a complex of once-derelict farm buildings that he is restoring.
